Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive.
Very few songs in the history of music can define a single era, yet transcend beyond that and become a universal anthem and undeniable classic. “I Will
Survive” is one of those songs that always whips people into frenzy, and pulsates life into lifeless beings on the dance floor. Born in 1949 in Newark, New Jersey, Gloria Gaynor had minimal chart success
before “I Will Survive”, her other Top 10 hit was “Never Can Say Goodbye”, and all of her other songs failed to crack Billboard’s Top 40. When “I Will Survive” was initially due to be released, it was
scheduled to be the B-side to the song “Substitute” which peaked at #107 on Billboard’s “Bubbling Under” chart. Thankfully the powers that be changed their minds making “I Will Survive” #1 for 3 weeks and
reaching platinum status making it a bona-fide dance classic that is one of the most definitive party/wedding songs of all-time.
