The 4 Seasons – December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night)

Formed in 1955 by Frankie Valli (real name: Francis Castelluccio) and other buddies from Newark, New Jersey, The 4 Seasons (named after a New Jersey bowling alley), originally known as the Variations and then The Four Lovers charted such #1 classics as “Sherry”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, & “Rag Doll”, but by the end of the 1960’s their string of hits were all but done.  In 1975, The 4 Seasons started to make a comeback, the first song released was “Who Loves You” which peaked at #3, and then they released “December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night) in late 1975.  The song went to #1 for 3 weeks and became a gold single.  Amazingly enough, although most people associate The 4 Seasons with Frankie Valli, it was their drummer Gerri Polci who actually sang lead vocals on this song.  In 1990, The 4 Seasons were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, and if that wasn’t enough, a dance remix version of December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night) by The 4 Seasons came out in 1994 allowing the song to hit the Billboard charts once again (peaked at #14) and making this song one of the most definitive party/wedding songs of all-time.
