Buster Poindexter – Hot, Hot, Hot
Born in 1950 in Staten Island, New York, Buster, born as David Johansen, was founder and lead singer of the pre-punk group The New York Dolls from 1971-75. He appeared in
the movies “Married To The Mob”, “Freejack” and “Let It Ride” to name a few. In 1987, he assumed the Buster Poindexter persona, and in late 1987, he released “Hot, Hot, Hot”. The song and video brought
people out of their chairs and into a conga line. With it’s repetitive tag line, infectious rhythm, and party-like atmosphere, “Hot, Hot, Hot” quickly became a party favorite. Amazingly enough, “Hot,
Hot, Hot” never reached Billboard’s Top 40, peaking at #45. It was Buster’s only single released in the United States, but the song has gone down as one of the most definitive party/wedding songs of all-time.
